Welcoming the in-silico community in Stuttgart: VPH 2024 conference

September 10, 2024

From September 4th to 6th the biannual meeting of the Virtual Physiological Human community VPH 2024 was hosted in Stuttgart. Researchers of the CBM group were in charge of organizing the event and used the opportunity to present their research.

The VPH 2024 conference was held in Stuttgart from September 4 to 6 with a focus on Data-Driven Simulation Technologies for Clinical Decision Making. The VPH institute is an international non-profit organisation with the mission of realising the Virtual Physiological Human, or, in general, in-silico medicine for both research and clinic. In-silico medicine uses computer simulations for prevention, diagnosis, prognostic assessment, and treatment of disease and during the development process of biomedical products. The biannual meeting of the VPH community brings together researchers, clinicians, industry and regulators in one event.

With over 400 participants, up to nine parallel sessions, four plenary talks, and a number of satellite events, the conference was a great success. This was made possible by Sina Schorndorfer, Oliver Röhrle and Christian Bleiler from IMSB, who were part of the local organizing committee. Beyond that, IMSB researchers David Rosin, Emilie Ismailova, Justus Marquetand, Thomas Klotz, Dogukan Keles, Jan-Sören Völter, Jana Disch and Franziska Bubeck contributed with talks and posters to the scientific program. They presented research addressing the entire musculoskeletal system, ranging from cellular to organ scale, and using experimental, simulation and AI-based methods. The event provided a great opportunity to present the latest scientific results to an international audience, engage in discussions with fellow researchers, and meet with former and current colleagues during the welcome reception and the conference dinner.
