PhD students of the CBM group at EMC conference in Ljubljana

October 24, 2024 / Jana Disch

The 51st European Muscle Conference (EMC) took place at the University of Ljubljana from 22nd - 26th of September, 2024. The conference is organized by the European Society for Muscle Research (ESMR) and hosted in a different European country each year. The mission is to provide an opportunity for lively discussions between junior and senior researchers from all over the world about the latest progress in research on muscle biology and cell motility.

The scientific programme of the EMC 2024 had a special focus on muscle energy metabolism offering a great platform for our PhD student Jana Disch to gain new insights into the field and initiate interdisciplinary collaborations with scientific groups worldwide. She had the chance to present and discuss her own research that focuses on the development of a computational model of energy metabolism in skeletal muscle fibres with the goal to enhance experimental data and establish a mechanistic understanding of muscle fatigue.

The conference also offered unique satellite events organised by the ESMR-Early Careers Association specifically tailored for PhD students and early career researchers.

An amazing social programme, including a reception at the National Gallery, a concert at the Academy of Music and a guided walk in the Ljubljana centre, introduced the over 250 participants to the beautiful capital of Slovenia.
